The story of the Legendary IJN Yamato

“IJN Yamato was the lead ship of her class of battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) shortly before World War II. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed”

So, this is the first legendary story that I have ever written (I want to try making it in Lego ha-ha) and to give you a sense of size I will be adding the Length, beam and draft (which is the length from the keel to the hull).

                                                 IJN Yamato

Armament: 3 × triple 46 cm (18.1 in) main guns

Armor: belt armor: 410 mm (16.1 in)

Deck armor: 200–226.5 mm (7.9–8.9 in)

turret armor: 650 mm (25.6 in)

    Speed: 27 knots (50 km/h; 31 mph)

    Length: 263 m (862 ft 10 in)

    Beam: 38.9 m (127 ft 7 in)

    Draft: 11 m (36 ft 1 in)

    Displacement: 65,027 tons

I really respect this ship as it is the most powerful ship in naval history, even until now the ship still remains a symbol of Japanese naval might (it is also really big) but one of its flaws which was that the Yamato could not handle well if so many planes attack it at the same time which is why it was defeated plus the fact that its deck was partially made of wood and because if that it made it easier to spread fires on the deck I think even just one bomb by the US Navy can make a big fire on the decks of Yamato.

And another thing is that Yamato is a big ship and because of that it can easily be hit by torpedoes and bombs and I guess that is another reason as to why it was defeated, and as to how it sank (I think almost everyone knows how it sank) it first slowed down and then like every minute it listed (and by list I mean It tipping to one side) to the starboard side and then when the Yamato almost capsized the I think middle part did a massive  explosion and then the pride of the Japanese Navy went down to the bottom of the sea.

And that ends the story of the Legendary IJN Yamato.
