The story of USS Missouri

 

“USS Missouri entered the Pacific Theatre in early 1945. She participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She joined in on air strikes and shore bombardment on mainland Japan”

 

So, the USS Missouri is at Pearl Harbor as a museum ship which is something I would like to see one day (now I want to build the USS Missouri in Lego now ha-ha).

Really quick I want to show you (the readers) the description of the ship.

            Armament: 3 × triple 16 in (406 mm) guns

            Armor: Turret armor: 19.7 in (500 mm)

                        Deck armor: 4.75–6.2 in (121–157 mm)

            Speed: 32.5 knots (60.2 km/h; 37.4 mph)

            Displacement: 57,540 Tons

 

As said in the paragraph above Missouri participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa but in the battle of Okinawa, Missouri was attacked by a kamikaze plane and has sustained only minor damage, but the pilot in the plane was believed to be 19 years old and he was instantly killed when the plane hit the ship and his body was found among the wreckage on deck.

Ok that is really sad because he hasn’t even reached adulthood yet and he gave his life to just well… Almost nothing because he didn’t even do a sufficient amount of damage but he tried his best.

You know what I think his problem was? He was fighting on the wrong side.

Other than that I guess USS Missouri didn’t do much in the world war.
